The iSIMS system is comprised of three components. The first component is an encrypted database maintained at DSA's secure data center, and designed to ensure minimal downtime and maximum data integrity. The second component is a server application that bridges communications from the database to the client application, located behind a firewall at the DSA data center. This server will only allow communications with a trusted client over a secure connection using the security certificate issued for the client's PC. The server also validates all transactions to ensure completeness and compliance to the iSIMS business rules. The third component is the user application, which is installed on the client's PC. The client application talks to the server with an issued security certificate. Gaining access to the application can only be accomplished after the administrator inserts his/her credential card in the card reader and provides a matching PIN number.
